LessLate 1.2.0: simplifying setup in TestFlight

A TestFlight iteration simplified repeat reminder controls, made the action explicit, and added checks for time and destination selection.

What changed

Version 1.2.0 build 12 was uploaded for TestFlight on 20 September 2026. It was an iteration between the public 1.1 and 1.3.0 releases.

Three “Pressure” cards became one “Repeat reminders” row.

The main action stayed at the bottom of the screen and named the exact reminder time.

“Try Pro” became “Unlock Pro” to reflect the absence of a free trial.

A chosen time that had already passed disabled the action with an explanation.

Destination selection gained a map confirmation and an empty search illustration.

Why I changed it

The design goal was to keep the initial setup focused on setting a reminder, while making timing, destination and paid features clearer before commitment.

Evidence and limits

The project log records a destination confirmation check on my iPhone on 20 September. Other changes had simulator checks, with some device checks still outstanding. There is no evidence here of a measured improvement in setup completion.

The comparison uses a 1.1 screenshot before the changes and a 1.3.0 screenshot showing the later public interface. No image is labelled as a 1.2 screenshot.

Left: version 1.1’s longer setup. Right: the simplified Set screen, captured from version 1.3.0 source after the change introduced in the 1.2.0 TestFlight build.

Source note: The left screen was rebuilt from version 1.1 build 11 source, and the right screen from version 1.3.0 build 15 source. Both are simulator captures made on 6 October 2026. No exact 1.2.0 capture was available.

The v1.1 and v1.3 setup captures have different scroll positions, so compare visible controls and wording rather than counting screens or taps.

What came next

The setup changes carried into 1.3.0. I am continuing to examine whether people can complete the required location setup without losing momentum.
